Zoos & Wildlife Parks in Heidelberg
The wildlife parks & zoos in Heidelberg and the area around attract many tourists every year. There are plans for expanding them. The newly created savanna landscape receives clear edges to the adjacent district at the zoo borders. Inside, the dike and the ridge form the backbone of the zoo and its extension areas. The savanna grasslands are framed by a topography resembling a weathered crater rim, on whose slopes and embankments differentiated themes can be rolling hills.
If you need something easier and a bit more exotic, several zoos, wildlife parks, and grounds offer great opportunities: get face to face with lions, side by side with elephants, take a break under the protective shelter of sequoia trees or the largest cedar in Germany – all this and much more is available
Welcome to the Heidelberg Zoo. Facing a lion eye in eye, discovering a panda high up in the branches, watching elephant bulls while bathing - all this and more is possible at the Zoo Heidelberg, the largest zoo in the metropolitan region.
Our small beautiful zoo is no longer an "insider tip" in the entire Rhine Neckar region. Admission to the park is free, but you can support our work with a donation. Your dog is also welcome - but please keep him on a leash
We offer numerous events all year round for children, adolescents and adults, such as eventful tours, zoo lessons or vacations in the zoo. The aim of our work is always to arouse the fascination for biodiversity and to clarify the importance of species and nature conservation.
